"THE GOLDEN BALL”
Many
fairy tales and ancient myths have addressed a mystery and a fascination with
gold in the lives of the characters. Some portray a picture of the natural
vitality and radiance of the child that often fades away early in life. The mystery of such stories can sometimes be rediscovered on
a journey that leads to the discovery of riches like gold or the fountain of
youth.
The
adult in this sculpture reflects exposure to the elements of ignorance,
naiveté, social influence and a susceptibility to the wounds that are passed
down through generations.
The child is symbolic of the adult's past youth prior to the wound, the loss of beauty and innocence. He stands on the back of a turtle, a symbol of a connectedness to nature and longevity while explaining to the adult about the mystery of what is missing "The Golden Ball".
The ball represents wholeness, solidarity, and unity with nature. It glows with a radiance of life as the sun, a source of energy. It is the means by which we often draw attention to our spirits and a means to suggest a permanence with a ring of marriage. When the ball is removed, the sculpture reflects the mystery of what is missing in our adult life, the natural playful spirit of the child..

THE CREATOR"
BACK
Creation, a process that in it’s minute detail appears to be both finite and infinite, beyond our comprehension and carries with it a mystery of life that seems to go on indefinitely.
There comes a time in the development of a child when he/she discovers his or her own hands. For some parents that may be the day when all of the trouble seemed to begin. Anyone who has lost their hands, legs, vision or hearing, etc. can tell us the value of such gifts while clarifying that we should never take such things for granted. One day as I was attempting to create spontaneously with clay, I discovered my hands creating. Hence, the creator in me brought forth a reminder of the gift that I live.

"SPIRITUAL TRANSFORMATION" BACK
There is at least in my life, a desire to seek harmony and peace in love. A relationship must transcend the physical romantic connection to a spiritual level of awakening to reach its full potential. Living in harmony requires that we seek a higher spiritual level while maintaining a balance with the physical world. We can not separate ourselves from that which is an integral part of our existence in nature as long as we are alive. This sculpture speaks to gentleness, unity and peace in an embrace with another.
I give with kindness, gentleness, love, respect, honor and commitment to another from a deep place inside of myself. I separate darkness of the other from myself. I learn to accept shadows and darkness. I am able to see beyond darkness to the light. I see and acknowledge with clarity the gifts of the person in my life. I honor and humbly cherish such gifts.
"SPIRITUAL TRANSFORMATION
III"I "believe" in you and support your purpose and your gift in life. I do not question or doubt, I trust. I am my own person. I acknowledge all that you are. I am sensitive to your life. I feel a greater depth of love in me. I am "at peace" with you. I am thankful for this gift. I appreciate its beauty. I honor the spirit of love and life in you and in myself. I am an advocate of your spiritual being and growth.

"SURRENDER BACK
Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce Indians, at the Battle of the Bears Paw Mountains, surrendered his rifle to General Howard and Colonel Miles vowing never to fight again. The surrender of Chief Joseph reflected a significant change in the life style of both Native Americans and the nature of wildlife on the plains.
This sculpture came about after a spirited co-worker and friend encouraged me to live the spirit inside of myself by commissioning the very first bronze sculpture. She put in a request for a Native American and asked me to make it for her husband. Instinctively, I created this piece prior to my involvement in "Personality and Human Relations." (see story of Genesis). Later, I discovered the natural symbolism that existed in this sculpture. The connection went back to the importance of my early childhood exploration of nature. As a child, I watched my personal connections with nature and many special creatures vanish before my eyes as houses were planted in a place where vast numbers of animals thrived. The people who bought those houses had no idea of what preceded them. But, I knew the land intimately. That loss of nature had a profound impact inside of me. In the creation of "Surrender," something inside of me naturally chose the point at which most of us became detached from the authentic spirit of America. This sculpture supports the importance of a peaceful co-existence with both nature and humanity.

"THE SPIRIT OF LIVING"(What you see is what you live) BACK
The word “evil” is “live” in reverse. What is seen clearly in one direction, is often difficult to live in the other. The more one seeks a positive spiritual life, the less one tends to see evil in the wor1d. The more people believe in goodness, the less there is of evil. Evil and Satan gain power through recognition and belief. Evil thrives in an injured spirit.
The crystal ball symbolizes a higher spiritual plain of light, truth and wholeness. If you did not see what was at the bottom of this sculpture, it was intended that way. You did not miss a thing.
The person who holds this sculpture is encouraged to live the power and gift of life. Once this connection is solid, the holder is encouraged to pass the sculpture on to someone else.

"PEACE"
(A gift of the inner child)
bACK
Symbolic of spiritual evolution is the fish at the base with a movement through the child to the golden ball, the ball and finger raised to a higher spiritual place. The golden ball is symbolic of the positive gift of wholeness, unity, radiance, and spirituality present at birth in the child. A connection with the spirit and life of the inner child is a path to peace. The hand touching the child is the emotional wave of water crashing against the shoreline, gently touching the child. The hand which holds the child like the hand of God has the appearance of a tree solidly rooted while offering the child to the universe. The creation of this sculpture was intended to support the symbolic power for peace with the intent of it's owner to explore and find within oneself an internal path toward peace. The mission is to find that place and cause and then to pass it on to someone else. Once its place and power inside is clearly known, it can never be lost.

"genesis" BACK
Symbolic of our common origins and ancestry, we have more in common than we are often willing to admit. Genetic interpretation would support this reality. Our differences are mostly created in our imaginations. Animals see us as looking alike with only slight variations in color as we would recognize grizzly bears as looking very much alike with only slight variations in color. This sculpture emphasizes our unity and supports the positive aspect of our being as well as our ability to appreciate all things that are positive and beautiful about us.
In 1992, a series of sculptures were created that were influenced by my participation in an organization called "Personality and Human Relations." This organization designed to help an individual research and make discoveries regarding one's own importance assisted me with my own discoveries regarding my connections to wildlife and humanity. Henceforth, much of the sculpture followed an evolutionary path of man and supported the continued existence of endangered wildlife. This sculpture was made in celebration of humanity in order to address the beauty of our common ancestry and humble origins, as well as our uniqueness and our individuality.

Along the way, there were those people who encouraged heart felt feelings and supported the spirit and love inside of me for life. This sculpture is a reminder for me of those who assisted my journey and cause. It was created in honor of them. What animal is it? Why this animal? Following my discovery of the living path inside of me and its cause for nature and humanity, I decided to have at least one native tribal person represent the endangered peoples of different parts of the world surrounded by those animals that are indigenous to that part of the earth. This is a Tree Kangaroo. It goes with the New Guinea and Australia collection.

The "Pokot Woman" was
the first tribal sculpture designed to represent the beauty of human beings in a
place where human origins occurred.
I selected a tribal person to be surrounded by native wildlife with the
intention of following a path of evolution from Africa to other continents.
The New Guinea Highlander was the next tribal sculpture.
